About the Project
InterRisk TU SA Vienna Insurance Group identified the need to modernize its sales platform. This led to the development of IRON (InterRisk Online Network), a new system designed to streamline policy, renewals and discount management while improving user experience and flexibility. At the heart of this transformation is Higson, which enables InterRisk to configure products without IT intervention. The project launched in September 2023 and progressed rapidly, delivering a comprehensive modern system in under two years. Higson, Decerto’s business rules engine, had already been in use at InterRisk, primarily supporting tariff calculations.
In the IRON system, Higson became the backbone for configuring insuranceproducts and managing decision logic.
With Higson, InterRisk is able to:
- Configure decision logic for product eligibility, ensuring that only appropriate combinations of coveragesare available for selection.
- Define available coverages and product variants, such as different risk types and combinations offeredbased on vehicle type or customer profile.
- Map and manage data between systems, providing a unified configuration repository for productdefinitions.
